Energy Accounting — Reducing Stress and Preventing Burnout Through a Neuro-Affirmative Approach
On 10 November 2026, we invite you to join us for a conference with psychologist and author Maja Toudal, organised as part of FAL’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
During the conference, Maja Toudal will introduce the Energy Accounting method and share practical, concrete tools that can be put to immediate use.
Diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Maja Toudal has personal experience of the stress autistic people face when navigating a world that is not designed to meet their specific needs. When she started secondary school, she felt the need to find a way to “survive” the increasing levels of stress associated with the school environment. She needed an approach that could adapt to changing needs and help identify early warning signs of stress before reaching a state of exhaustion.
After more than ten years of clinical use in several countries, Energy Accounting has evolved into a holistic, visual and structured method that can be adapted to different neurodevelopmental profiles, as well as to various forms of disability that may affect stress levels. Its neuro-affirmative approach focuses on each person’s abilities and resources, while also acknowledging the real challenges that may require individualised strategies. The method can be used independently or in collaboration with a healthcare professional.
Since 2012, Maja Toudal has been working with Dr Tony Attwood to further adapt and improve the method. Together, they published a book dedicated to this approach in 2024, entitled Energy Accounting.
If you would like to attend the conference, please confirm your attendance by emailing autisme@fal.lu before 9 November 2026. Admission is free.
The conference will be held in English, with French interpretation provided on site.
